Andrew Pierce

Biography

I started with karting as a kid at around 8 attending the nearby oval tracks in eastern North Carolina when possible (probably 3-5 events per year is what my family could do). Around 14, I became interested in aviation and sold the kart to pursue lessons. I soloed on my 16th birthday and received my private pilot's license at 18. Despite this, I was still very passionate about getting into auto racing at some point when finances allowed. It took quite a few years to get back around to it, but in 2014 I was able to get back into racing by competing, for 2 seasons, in the Powerade Kart series at Carolina Motorsports Park. This was a 4-cycle sprint kart series. I also attended some events at the nearby GoPro park in Mooresville, NC. In 2018, I sold the sprint kart to fund the first few HPDE events with NASA. I attended many events in 2018 and 2019 including the NASA instructor clinic and passing my time trial checkride. I have been in open passing group events since November 2018. In addition to instructing with NASA, I have also instructed with Turn One Track Days (Carolina Motorsports Park in-house events)
