Jim started with high performance driving in 2009. Four years later he moved into an instructor role training owners of cars how to drive fast and safe on a closed race track. That same year, he also started competitive racing from a lifelong desire to compete in wheel-to-wheel road racing. Retired in 2016 from NC State University and was now able to devote more time with motor sports, but more specifically, instructing. As of this writing, Jim has instructed with 18 different HPDE clubs and has driven on 9 race tracks, but makes it his priority to work with teenagers. “What an impact to be there at the beginning of someone’s driving career and make a difference that ultimately could save their life.” There is a bonus that those learned skills will flow over to passengers while the teen is operating a motor vehicle in a safe and courteous manor.
